Amma Devina

Devah is considered by her listeners to be as much a poet as she is a singer and songwriter and she believes so much in musical influence on the evolution and development of our collective consciousness that her mission statement is, “Changing the world one note at a time... if only my own.”

Devah began performing when only five years old at her church like many musicians. Her Southern gospel roots add depth to what is an inter-marriage of Mid-eastern, Folk, Jazz and Electronica. Her music began its journey when she started writing songs at sixteen. Over the years as she has grown, her music has become avant-garde. She uses electronic effects on top of acoustic, electric and world instrumentation and beats to create music that is uniquely her. Her goal in creating music is to provide emotional and mental solace for herself and to communicate the human condition authentically in its paradox of perfection and hunger so that it speaks a universal language that any can hear.

Devah’s vocals have haunting and earthy qualities alike which you can hear in songs like “One” and “Down” or draw you into her world as she tempts you unabashedly in songs like, “Waiting For the Rain” and “Hello.”
She includes amoung her lyrical and vocal heroes musicians like Sting, Stevie Wonder, Billy Joel, Peter Gabriel, Ella Fitzgerald, Aretha Franklin and new female artists Sarah Fimm and Sia Furler from Zero Seven.
Once you hear her you will see why her fans range the world wide from Ireland to Greece to her hometown of Austin, Texas. Become a fan, share her music, leave a comment.

Be Well and Live Truly.
